Welcome to the Commonwealth Games Special Equestrians Division!

We are excited to offer these adaptive classes and we hope to offer all riders a safe, encouraging, and fun experience.

 

Some tips for choosing your classes: We recommend that you settle on a division below what level your student is working on at home, to account for the new environment and show nerves that we all experience in a competitive setting.

 

Riders may enter all classes from their division but may not cross enter division levels.

 DIVISIONS

Supported (S)
Riders need the physical support of a horse handler and one or two side-walkers, or the presence of a leader. Any help in the arena is considered supported.

Independent (I)
Independent riders may not be helped while competing. A spotter may be with them in case of emergency.

 

LEVELS

A Level: Walk, Trot/Jog, Canter/Lope
Independent riders only.
Rider is expected to compete with no modifications to rules and can perform class requirements. May have a spotter in ring in case of emergencies. In dressage, they will ride their test of choice. 

 

B Level: Walk, Trot/Jog

BI (Independent)
 Can physically perform class requirements. May have a spotter in ring in case of emergencies.

BS (Supported)
Can physically perform class requirements.

 

C Level: Walk only

CI (Independent)
 May have a spotter in the ring in case of emergencies.

CS (Supported)
Can physically perform class requirements.

*Halters are required for all supported classes. A lead line must be attached to the halter and not to the bridle or bit. The halter may be under or over the bridle, as long as it does not interfere with the use of the bit or the reins.

Working Equitation $60

WE Level 1 Test

Trail - $15/ class 

Pole Bending - $15

Vaulting= $20

 

Of Note: There will be a safety inspection before mounting to ensure the following: 

Correctly fitted appropriate helmets 

Well fitted tack in good repair

Safe girth correctly fitted

Spotters will be in strategic places in the competition to act in case of emergency for an unassisted rider.

Attire: Workman like and neat. Formal attire is welcome but not required. ALL riders must wear a protective SEI-ATTM or BHS approved helmet with full chin harness, which must be fastened at all times while mounted.

We strongly encourage you to acclimate your horses to all spaces they will be competing in prior to the competition. This includes the areas between competition sites, mounting areas, and warm up rings. Courses may be walked on foot prior to the competition but horses are not allowed on any courses during competition.
